Buy Office 2007 now get Office 2010 for free, confirmed starting March 5th 2010.

Purchase and activate a qualifying Office 2007 product between March 5, 2010, and September 30, 2010, and you can download Office 2010 at no additional cost.

Despite earlier posting of these details on the Microsoft Partner Program and the subsequent removal of the offer, here is the official announcement.

Here is how Microsoft explains the steps:

1Buy Office 2007

Purchase a qualifying Office 2007 product (with or without a new PC) from an authorized reseller between March 5, 2010 and September 30, 2010. See the eligibility requirements for more information.

Save your Office 2007 dated sales receipt and keep your Product Key in a safe place.

Below are some of the Office 2007 products that qualify for the Technology Guarantee.

  • Office Home and Student 2007
  • Office Small Business 2007
  • Office Professional 2007
  • Office Publisher 2007

2Install and activate Office 2007

Install and activate your qualifying Office 2007 product by September 30, 2010.
Your activated Office 2007 25-character Product Key is required to redeem your Technology Guarantee Office 2010 upgrade. You will also need to provide your Product ID.

3Upgrade to Office 2010

When Office 2010 is available in your country or region and language, return to this site to request your upgrade no later than October 31, 2010. You will have the choice to download Office 2010 at no additional cost, or purchase a DVD. You must meet all eligibility requirements to receive your Technology Guarantee upgrade.

    SharePoint 2010 RC cumulative patch released on Microsoft Connect

    For those of you that are members of the TAP program or the RDP then there is a new patch available.

    Why am I posting this if it is only for TAP or RDP users? It is a sign that Microsoft is getting closer to release and items are being added and fixed as you read this.

    Here is the official word from Microsoft:

    “We have just released a new cumulative patch for customers running Release Candidate (RC) of our 2010 server products. This patch contains all the fixes made since the Release Candidate including several fixes for performance, reliability, and Profile Import functionality. We strongly recommend all customers install this patch. It is not required, but will be the first step we take in patching earlier builds.

    NOTE: This patch applies to SharePoint Server 2010, SharePoint Foundation 2010, Project Server 2010.

    Please install this patch from this location and review the installation notes posted on Microsoft Connect.

    All post-RC patches are cumulative and all will be supported as the starting point in the final upgrade to the RTM build. For any issues, questions or feedback on this patch, please use the Connect feedback tool, to provide your feedback. We have also updated our SharePoint 2010 Beta to RC Upgrade document, which you can also find the latest copy here.”
